SCAD welcomes top sequential artists for Editors' Day 2008

SCAD, Savannah, Editors' Day, sequential art, 2008SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Savannah College of Art and Design sequential art department will host leading comic book artists and editors at its annual Editors' Day, Friday, May 16. Editors' Day launches with a panel discussion with the artists Thursday, May 15, 6 p.m., at the SCAD Student Center, 120 Montgomery St., Savannah, Ga.; this event is free and open to the public. On Friday, May 16, artists will meet one-on-one with SCAD students in Norris Hall, 548 E. Broughton St., Savannah, Ga., to conduct professional portfolio reviews.

The lineup of guests includes Bob Schreck, editor for DC Comics' "Vertigo" line; Axel Alonso, group editor for Marvel Comics; Chris Staros, editor-in-chief and publisher of Top Shelf Comics; Tricia Narwani, Random House manga editor; James Lucas Jones, editor-in-chief of ONI Press; Jeff Mason, editor and publisher of Alternative Comics; Dan Vado from Slave Labor Graphics Comics; Chris Warner, editor for Dark Horse Comics; and SCAD alumnus Mike O'Sullivan (M.F.A., sequential art, 2004), editor of Devil's Due Publishing Co.

Each year, the professional portfolio reviews result in job opportunities for many sequential art students, launching them into careers in the comic, graphic novel and manga industries.
