Submission guidelines
Eligibility The competition is open to students currently enrolled in a Georgia public or private high school, grades 11 and 12. Home-schooled students are also encouraged to participate.
Authorship and plagiarism By entering the competition, the entrant represents, acknowledges and warrants that the submitted image is an original work created solely by the student. Any work found to be plagiarized is disqualified and any awards are withdrawn.
Submission requirements Artwork may not exceed 3 feet in either dimension. Artwork that is not executed in a drawing medium is not accepted. Examples of acceptable drawing mediums are:
- Graphite/pencil
- Charcoal
- Pen-and-ink
- Design markers
- Colored pencil
- Watercolor pencil
- Chalk
- Conte
- Pastel
- Oil pastel
- Mixed media (with a minimum of 80 percent being any or all of the above)
Entries are judged by a panel of SCAD professors based on aesthetic awareness, composition, technique, design, spatial perception, originality, quality of presentation and color perception, where applicable.

Exhibition and awards
Teacher notification Teachers receive notification of exhibition selections by Nov. 16, 2009 via the e-mail address provided on the entry form. At the time of notification, teachers are requested to submit original art pieces for the exhibitions. Complete packing information and detailed shipping instructions for the original pieces are included with the teacher notification. The top 50 original pieces are due to Savannah by Nov. 30, 2009.
Awards Ten winners selected by the jury are offered scholarships to attend SCAD upon application and admission to the college. Scholarships range from $1,500–$5,000 (USD) per year and are renewable until completion of a bachelor’s degree (225 attempted quarter hours), as long as the recipient is enrolled and maintains a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0. Artistic scholarships may not be combined; however, qualifying students may be eligible for higher artistic scholarships based on their portfolio submission. Accepted students may also be eligible to receive academic and need-based awards in addition to an artistic scholarship.
Artwork pick-up Original artwork included in the juried exhibition cannot be released until after the conclusion of the award reception on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010. Students, parents and teachers are strongly encouraged to pick up the artwork at the conclusion of the awards ceremony. If the artwork cannot be picked up at that time, a prepaid, self-addressed USPS or UPS shipping label MUST be included in the package when it is shipped or hand delivered to SCAD.
Exhibition and awards ceremony All participating students, families and teachers are invited to attend the opening exhibition in Atlanta and the closing juried exhibition and awards reception in Savannah.

Submission requirements Work may not exceed 10 pages, and must be formatted in 12-point font and double-spaced with no less than 1" margins. Written work may be fiction or nonfiction and may be any of the following:
- Short story
- One-act play
- Personal essay
- Memoir
- Persuasive essay
- Art essay
- Poetry
