SCAD-Lacoste faces multiple challenges to meet the needs of students, faculty and staff. These challenges include renovating and rehabilitating buildings and implementing state-of-the-art technology. The Lacoste Annual Fund provides important support for restoring, maintaining and improving the Lacoste facilities, and for travel scholarships.

Planned Giving

SCAD offers a planned giving program through the office of institutional advancement to assist donors in making deferred gifts to the college and Lacoste. For some individuals, making deferred — or future — gifts is the most suitable way to support a charitable organization.

Lacoste is fortunate to have many long-time supporters. Deferred gifts offer supporters a creative way to secure the long-term stability of Lacoste while also providing the donor with significant tax benefits.

Planned gifts can be simple, such as bequests made through wills, or more complicated, such as charitable remainder trusts or annuities. Donors can also name Lacoste as a beneficiary of an IRA, a life insurance policy or a remainder interest in a personal residence or farm.

Proceeds from planned gifts may support the renovation and rehabilitation of the Lacoste campus, support the Lacoste Scholarship Fund and provide revenues for day-to-day operations.

Donors making planned gifts to SCAD and Lacoste become members of the Corinthian Society — the pillars of SCAD's college community. The Corinthian Society allows the college to show its appreciation now to donors whose gifts may not mature for many years.

Scholarships

SCAD is committed to securing scholarship funds to support SCAD students participating in the Lacoste program.

To establish an endowed scholarship, a donor must contribute a minimum of $10,000 to the endowment. The college invests the corpus to preserve the capital and emphasize long-term capital appreciation. The earnings generated provide funds for the annual award.

There are many ways to establish an endowed scholarship. Some donors choose to give an outright, one-time gift to establish the fund. Others make a multi-year pledge, giving specific amounts annually until the minimum endowment level of $10,000 is attained and disbursements can be made.

The Lacoste Scholarship Fund is a new scholarship that has been established to benefit students who wish to participate in the Lacoste program. The college continues to seek funds to attain the endowed level.
