Savannah Harbor Foundation gingerbread village competition
Savannah, Ga.
The Savannah Harbor Foundation is sponsoring a gingerbread house competition, with winning entries to be displayed as part a gingerbread village in the lobby of the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa, Nov.23-Dec. 25. Entrants must create a quick concept design and sketch of the house, building or structure they propose and e-mail Russ Blakeborough for prior approval to ensure that there is no repetition and that the subject fits the theme. Submissions should be related to Savannah/ Low Country/ Old South and 24"x24" in size (a wooden or other type frame may be used.) Students may win up to $800 in scholarship money.

3byOne: Energy, Renewal & Stability
Jacksonville, Fla.
Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, Fla., seeks entries for an international interactive photographic exhibition expressing allegiance to a sustainable existence. Each artist will create a three-part photographic piece elucidating the themes of energy, renewal and stability using the visual vocabulary of his/her own culture. During the exhibition, individual panels can be regrouped again and again to create cross-cultural dialogue and emphasize our global interdependency. Learn more.

The Capital Grille wine label contest

Artists, wine aficionados and label lovers are invited to submit their artwork for a wine label design contest. The Capital Grille is searching for a unique, original label for a newly vinted wine, hand produced for The Capital Grille by a world renown winery. Only 7,000 bottles of this wine will be bottled. Beginning March 15, 2010, the wine will be available exclusively at all 39 locations of The Capital Grille. The winning label will be showcased on every bottle of the limited-edition vintage this spring. Additionally, the winner will receive a case of this wine and an all-expense paid trip for two to Napa Valley for an insider’s tour of some of the world’s top wineries. Wonderful Pistachios YouTube Video Contest

Wonderful Pistachios is launching the first ever "pistachio" campaign, encouraging Americans to “Get Crackin’” with a user video submission contest that asks filmmakers to develop their own video commercial for a chance to win $25,000 and an airing on national television. Video submissions will be accepted and aired on the “Get Crackin’” YouTube channel. Access complete rules and guidelines. A winning video will be selected on or around Dec. 15, 2009.

Call for Entries: IxDA Interaction10 Global Student Competition

As part of the Interaction10 conference, hosted by SCAD and taking place in Savannah Feb. 4-7, 2010, IxDA welcomes submissions for a student design competition. The Interaction Design Association (IxDA) is committed to supporting the global community for those practicing interaction design regardless of specific roles in their day-to-day lives. The competition is open to any individual student (undergraduate or graduate) or recent graduate (within one year) who has completed a project they feel exemplifies interaction design excellence. Appropriate submissions can be practical or conceptual and from any discipline, so long as they fit this theme. Submissions will be accepted Oct.30-Nov. 30, and finalists will be announced Dec. 15. The final winner will be announced during Interaction10, Feb. 7, 2010. Access rules of entry, a detailed submission time line and contact information.

Melancholy: At The Bottom of Everything

Projekt30 is seeking artwork that possesses or infers the characteristics associated with the melancholic temperament or the emotional state of melancholy--artwork that is downcast, gloomy, pensive, sorrowful, or preoccupied with the tragedy and cruelty of the world. "Melancholy" will follow Projekt30's publicly juried format: All artwork submitted will be presented online prior to the exhibition so visitors may help select which artists will be included in the exhibition. Thirty artists will be selected, and the show will be publicized via an extensive mailing list consisting of galleries, collectors, artists and art-lovers. The public jury will take place, Dec. 4-16, 2009, and the exhibition opens Dec. 18. The fee is $35 for up to 10 images, free for members. Learn more.

The purpose of this prize is to make available a book of poetry from a new writer. The prize of a published book with distribution will be awarded in 2010 (publication of the book in the same year). The author will receive a standard contract with Astrophil Press, 50 copies, and royalties. The prize is open to any writer in English who has not published a first or second book-length collection of poems. Poems previously published in periodicals may be included in the manuscript.
