Awards and Recognition
The Foley Gallery in Chelsea, N.Y., will exhibit the first solo show of Chris Scarborough (B.F.A., illustration, 2000) April 17-May 31. His exhibition, "Warbabies," features his graphite drawings that depict a theme of cartoon violence through the use of anthropomorphization. The Nashville resident is also the recipient of the 2008 Tennessee Artist Fellowship.

Mohamed Danawi

Mohammed Danawi is represented in the advertising, design and editorial markets by Lisa Freeman Inc., and in the children's book market by Wendy Lynn and Co. Danawi was the chair of the illustration department from 1998-2002. He is a member of the Society of Children's Books Writers and Illustrators. In 2002, he was selected for inclusion in Who's Who Among America's Teachers.

Allan Drummond
Savannah

Allan Drummond is chair of SCAD’s illustration department. He worked as a journalist before studying graphic design at the London College of Printing, and illustration at the Royal College of Art. As an illustrator, his clients include the New Yorker, Time Magazine, the Times and the Daily Telegraph, as well as design groups in the United States, Europe and Japan. He also designed and produced the murals for Holborn Station, a London Underground interchange. Drummond’s writing for children first appeared with his illustrations for “The Willow Pattern Story,” an American Bookseller “Pick of the Lists” children’s book that is still in print after 16 years. He has since written, illustrated and published seven more titles. In 2006, Houghton Mifflin published “The Journey that Saved Curious George,” which includes nearly 40 of Drummond’s illustrations, to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the “Curious George” books. His next book, “Tin Lizzie,” is slated for publication in 2008 to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the Model T Ford. Visit his Web site.

John Foerster

John Foerster is a practicing medical illustrator who has taught at the graduate and undergraduate level for more than 12 years. He specializes in teaching digital illustration techniques and has conducted Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter workshops throughout the United States and Canada. He has received more than a dozen national awards for both his artwork and his contributions to the field of medicine. In addition to his editorial and advertising work, he has illustrated more than a dozen textbooks and is co-author of an award-winning medical book about cervical disorders.

Richard Lovell

After three years as a staff illustrator for studios in Atlanta and Houston, Rick Lovell started a freelance career in the Atlanta area, which he has maintained for more than 25 years. He has produced award-winning artwork for clients such as Anheuser Busch, AT&T, Avon Books, Business Week Magazine, CNN, Delta Airlines, Disney, Kellogg’s, Macy’s, Nike Design, Pentagram, Seimens and more. Lovell taught advanced illustration at the Portfolio Center in Atlanta and served as the illustration chair at the Atlanta College of Art prior to joining the illustration department at SCAD.

Daniel
Powers

Daniel Powers has 25 years of experience as a freelance illustrator and art director. He has published more than 20 children’s books and creates editorial illustrations for a variety of magazines. His artwork has been exhibited at the Society of Illustrators conference and at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. Powers has taught throughout the United States as well as in France, Germany and Mexico. He served as artist in residence at the Kalani-Honua Institute for Cultural Studies. His work is included in the collections of the Mazza Museum and the Kerlan Collect, and in the Meridian International Center’s traveling exhibitions.

Don Rogers

Don Rogers has more than 25 years of professional experience as a studio illustrator, graphic designer, freelance illustrator and professor, and has taught at SCAD since 1984. He has worked with a wide range of advertising, corporate and editorial clients including the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Wendy's, Ballantine Books, The Boston Globe, McDonald's, Coca-Cola Company, Moody Press, Sylvania and GTE.
