Graduate interactive design and game development student Umyot Boonmarlartwill present his thesis, "DIGIA" - Dynamic Information-Generated Interactive Art, during the Birds of a Feather session at the SIGGRAPH conference in Los Angeles Aug. 11-15. A 25-year veteran of the video game industry, Brenda Brathwaite has worked on 22 internationally known titles, including "Def Jam: Icon," "Playboy: The Mansion," "Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes," the award-winning "Wizardry" series and the award-winning "Jagged Alliance" series. Brathwaite was named one of the 100 most influential women in the game industry by Next Generation magazine, and in Spring 2007, she was awarded the SCAD Presidential Fellowship for Faculty Development to create an exhibition and presentation titled, "What You Don't Know About Video Games." Brathwaite is an active member of the International Game Developers Association, an anti-censorship advocate and a proponent of parental-rating awareness. Her areas of expertise include adult content in video games and the emerging Web 3.0.

Nikhil Deshpande

Nikhil Deshpande is an adjunct faculty member at SCAD. After starting his career in print advertising with BBDO, he later focused on user interface design and convergent media. He has directed TV spots and two documentaries for nonprofit causes. He also works as a senior media designer with www.georgia.gov.

SuAnne Fu specializes in fundamental interactive theories and history, and ways in which applications of visual aesthetics and human interaction extend to Web design, installation art and game design. Prior to SCAD, she worked as a contract designer for several Web design firms and participated in two start-up companies. She previously worked with designers and computer graphics scientists on interdisciplinary projects to build better models and environments for artists. Her areas of research include interactive design and cognitive arts.

sari gilbert

Sari Gilbert

Sari Gilbert has been a designer, producer and entrepreneur in technology and interactive entertainment for more than a decade. Her area of specialty is educational interactive and game design, with an emphasis on design for young children. She designed and produced the initial titles for preschoolers and kindergarteners in the popular JumpStart series. Gilbert then went to Disney Online as an executive producer, where she led design and development of all interactive entertainment and educational initiatives for the early learning market. She also founded and operated her own e-mail marketing technology company, GoMo Technologies, which ran campaigns for Dreamworks, Showtime and the Pepsi Corp. Gilbert has done project strategy consulting for Ask Jeeves, Bonus.com and Redleaf Ventures.

Andrew Hieronymi

Andrew Hieronymi's recent work focuses on the boundaries between games and art in physical environments. Collaborating with architects, writers and artists, he has worked with media such as video, urban design, CD-ROM authoring, Web design and installation art. He has exhibited internationally in art venues and media festivals.

gregory johnson

Gregory Johnson

Greg Johnson has been a professor at SCAD for more than a decade. With a background in graphic design, he focused his master's degree work on computer animation, 3-D modeling and programming. His technical expertise has been augmented by professional internships with major production companies, including EdEFX and Dreamworks Interactive; consulting for Electronic Arts; and freelance work. He served as the production director and coordinator of technical development for the Virtual Historic Savannah Project, an award-winning 3-D, online history of Savannah, Ga., funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.

josephine leong

Josephine Leong is chair of interactive design and game development at SCAD. She has taught at institutions of higher education in Singapore, Australia and the United States. In addition, she managed a multimedia start-up, and consulted and managed projects for numerous companies and government statutory boards in Singapore and Japan. Her areas of expertise include computer programming, systems design, local area networking, artificial intelligence, smart-card applications, electronic publishing, Internet and multimedia technologies, and interactive entertainment.

David Meyers

David Meyers

David Meyers trained as a painter and worked as a staff illustrator for a Gannett newspaper, corporate art director for Michelin North America, and art director and senior creative director at several agencies in the Midwest. He transformed two agencies from traditional design and production methods to digital, and has implemented and overseen two graphic design departments at the university level. In 1995, he started the new media production house NTE7.com, which offers a wide range of tactical and strategic services and specializes in the digital arena. The company’s client list includes Paul McCartney, Live Aid, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Grand Ole Opry and Sony. He continues to produce and exhibit painting and photography. Most recently, he wrote, directed and produced the digital short film “Wood Diary,” which has screened in more than 50 film festivals internationally and has won several awards.
Charles Shami

Charles Shami’s background is in 3-D animation and commercial art. Prior to teaching at SCAD, he served as assistant to the director of technology in Norris Hall, the college’s sequential art building. As a professor, he adapted the Advanced Survey of Computer Art Applications course for online delivery via SCAD-eLearning.

John Sharp

John Sharp is an interaction designer, information architect, graphic designer and art historian. He has been involved in art and design for 19 years in a variety of media: game design, interaction design, graphic design, printmaking, and radio and club DJing. The threads connecting his interests are a love of creating participatory experiences, an understanding of the importance of graphic design in modern media, and a fascination with the creation and consumption of media experiences. Sharp's recent work includes the Dia Art Foundation online bookstore, Matthew Barney's inventory system and the New Victory Theater Web site. Previous clients include the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, Electronic Arts Intermix, Microsoft, PBS Kids!, Scholastic New Media, Starwood Hotels and the Sundance Channel.

Tony Tseng is a digital artist, animator, interaction designer and game developer. He received a bachelor degree in computer graphics and animation from New York Institute of Technology, and a terminal masters degree in interaction design and new media from the Interactive Telecommunications Program at New York University. His areas of expertise include 3-D modeling, animation, motion capture, game engines and interaction design. He has worked as an animator and motion capture specialist for Acclaim Entertainment, as a Web designer and application developer for New York Nassau Board of Cooperative Educational Services, and as a 3-D artist and art director for dioramas for American Museum of Natural History. He now focuses on developing interactive projects and teaching. Tony is an avid gamer and an active member of SIGGRAPH, IGDA and CAPASUS.
