Work-study
The SCAD work-study program helps students find jobs on campus. To participate in this program, students must be enrolled in at least a half-time status, have a 2.0 cumulative GPA, and maintain good academic standing.
The Student Employment Office serves as the hub for all student employee placements on campus. Students are required to visit the student employment office each quarter (including the breaks) to verify their eligibility status prior to working.
Part-time or freelance work
Students who do not qualify for the univeristy work-study program may pursue other work.
Service Opportunities for Students
- Each coordinator is responsible for recruiting and motivating volunteers and promoting service projects.
- Each coordinator must attend fall and winter quarter training sessions.
- Coordinators staff the SOS office during weekly office hours and attend weekly SOS staff meetings, unless otherwise specified.
- Coordinators are compensated at the standard government-mandated minimum wage rate unless otherwise specified.

SOS student director Direct and assist service coordinators in planning projects and processing community service requests. Be available for 20 office hours per week. Oversee promotion of SOS activities and act as SOS representative. Conduct weekly staff meetings. Facilitate training of new service coordinators. Organize SOS information and recruitment tables at fall orientation and Student Organization Fair. Organize spring quarter volunteer appreciation reception. Must have leadership experience. Compensation: 20 hours per week.
Publicity Promote service requests by maintaining SOS campus boards, posting flyers and updating SOS blog. Must have a variety of software experience. Compensation: 10 hours per week.
Book Buddies Arrange Book Buddies orientation sessions. Maintain contact with schools and Book Buddies. Address questions and concerns regarding the program. Pick up and process all timesheets for Book Buddies. Compensation: 10 hours per week.
Habitat for Humanity Organize Saturday workdays in coordination with the local Habitat for Humanity program. Organize, recruit volunteers for, promote and attend regular workdays. Compensation: 10 hours per week.
Special events Organize at least three small-scale group projects per quarter. Organize quarterly large-scale service projects including SPLASH, Neonatal ICU Valentine's Reunion and the Halloween Carnival. Compensation: 10 hours per week.
Alternative breaks Coordinate and promote interest meetings to obtain feedback used in deciding the next trip. Plan projects, accommodations, activities and local contacts for trips. Motivate and provide leadership for students who attend alternative breaks. Compensation: 10 hours per week.
Art education coordinator Work with local agencies to use skills in art and design for the benefit of their organization. Recruit students who are interested in teaching their skills to people in the Savannah community. Compensation: 10 hours per week.
Pet Project Coordinate service projects with the Humane Society and other related agencies. Compensation: 10 hours per week.
Deli Project Coordinates service projects with local soup kitchens and other agencies with a focus on poverty and homelessness issues. Compensation: 10 hours per week.
