It's common knowledge that SCAD faculty members not only are outstanding educators but also are highly respected within their industries.
Over the last few months, a few names have risen to the tops of best-seller lists and notable book reviews as the most recent batch of books by SCAD faculty hit the shelves.
The Aug. 6 New York launch of professional writing professor
Adam Davies' third comic novel "Mine All Mine" (Riverhead Books) caught the attention of actor James Franco, who attended Davies' celebratory lunch at Michael's before the book-reading at the Tribeca Barnes & Noble.
The event made the New York Post's infamous Page Six as well as the New York Daily News' Side Dish. Publisher's Weekly called Davies' book "a hilarious caper," and Entertainment Weekly called it an "unabashedly fun book."
Interactive design and game development professor
Brenda Brathwaite prepares for the release of her second gaming-related book "Challenges for Game Designers" (Charles River Media), which she co-authored with fellow SCAD professor Ian Schreiber.
The book features a series of non-digital exercises for video game designers using images of games designed by Brathwaite's students. Graduate interactive design and game development student Blair Cooper designed the book's cover art.
Formerly the photography department chair and dean of the School of Communication Arts, SCAD's chief academic officer
Tom Fischer released the first edition of his book "Paradise/Paradox."
The book is a collection of photographs including images of places revered for their perfection of form, historic cultural landscapes and views of paradise lost. SCAD graphic designer
Leslie Geer (B.F.A., graphic design, 1992) is responsible for the book's layout and design.
