New Microfridge Rental Program

Residence life and housing announces a new program beginning Fall 2008. Staff is working with Collegiate Concepts Inc. to implement a Microfridge rental program for students assigned to Dyson House, Oglethorpe House, Turner Annex, Turner House and Weston House. Microfridges are combination units with a refrigerator, freezer and microwave in one. Microfridges have an internal allocator installed that shuts power off to the refrigerator and freezer while the microwave is in use, allowing it to conserve energy, receive an energy efficient rating and maintain a safe electrical load for residence halls. Students will be able to rent a unit online for a nominal fee and it will be delivered to their room prior to their arrival in September and picked up after their departure at the end of May. Rental costs for the 2008-09 academic year are $199 for a used unit or $249 for a new unit. Online ordering will be available beginning in mid-May or early June at the Collegiate Concepts Web site.
